A few years ago I decided to try out the South Beach diet after hearing about it for years. This led me to google recipes on the internet, and as a result, I found Kalyn's Kitchen. Kalyn lost 42 pounds several years ago on the South Beach diet, and has managed to keep it off. Her blog features hundreds of recipes that are low on the Glycemic Index and since she is a gardener, often uses fresh veggies from her garden.

Some of my favorite recipes include: Egg Muffins, Whole Wheat Chocolate Zucchini Bread (with Splenda), Turkey Lettuce Wraps Tacos, and Basil Pesto with Lemon. She really has a great variety and always uses fresh ingredients. Since reading Food Rules by Michael Pollan, I have committed to cooking more from scratch, and cooking real food and not just heating or microwaving boxes for my family. Since I know that Kalyn's recipes are healthy, I naturally have gone back to do more searching on her blog. It has helped me get excited about cooking again!
