Love and Logic Rules

RULE #1
Adults set firm limits in loving ways without anger, lecture,
or threats.

RULE #2
When a child causes a problem the adult hands it back in
loving ways.

1. In a loving way, the adult holds the child accountable
for solving his/her problems in a way that does not
make a problem for others.

2. Children are offered choices with limits.

3. Adults use enforceable statements.

4. Adults provide delayed/extended consequences.

5. The adult’s empathy is “locked in” before consequences
are delivered.

What are some ways that you can implement these rules? We will be addressing this in the coming weeks with real examples from real people on how they accomplish this. Stay tuned!

  1. The Love and Logic program is so empowering. If you ever have the opportunity to take the class "Love and LOgic Early Childhood Parenting Made Fun!" it lays out 12 simple tools to help you stay calm, get cooperation from kids, and great ideas for effective consequences.

Parents who want to learn more can link to my website where I post tips to reinforce how to apply these skills to bedtime, morning, shopping, eating, etc. I also host free monthly tele-classes on the topics too.

So glad you're getting the word out there about these skills to help parents feel confident, and consistent in theire parenting. It's also a great way to get on the same page with your spouse. Check out www.headandheartparent.com

  2. We went to a L&L seminar with Dr. Fay earlier this year. It was fantastic! We listen to the DVDs over and over again, but it was so cool to talk with him about our children and their specific issues. And hearing him in person really helped us polish up some our strategies. He's very entertaining!
