Since the weather has cooled down, which means my garden has moved on, I have decided to use Fridays On the Farm to talk about some of the workshops I am doing to help my various businesses grow. Perhaps it will help those of you who have your own businesses, or want to have your own businesses, or dream of someday having your own business.
Thursday - Saturday of this week I am in an all day summit all about doing just this. Three loooooong days that hopefully will be inspirational if not information overload. Three of my business colleagues are coming with me, which will create synergy that will allow us to pass up Donald Trump on Forbes Magazine's wealthiest Americans. Yeah, right.
However, I am thinking and dreaming big, because why not do that? I truly believe that I can do what I put my mind to.
Now, so that you don't think I am all about condos in Hawaii and Lear Jets, I want to list some of the reasons why I want to make a lot of money, and what is driving me. This may change later as I delve into my deeper psyche.
1. Patriotic as I am, Uncle Sam isn't watching out for me. I don't want to work forever, nor do I want my husband to have to work forever. He makes a great salary and that is what we live on. I am grateful that I have the skills and ability to stay home with my kids and still do this.
2. I want to start a perpetual education fund for the children in my family. This includes nieces and nephews and grand-children and great-nieces and great-nephews, etc. If they don't need it, fine. If they need it, I want it to be available to them to use for college, and then pay back with a very small interest for future generations.
3. I have several friends who are starting business ventures. I would love to be able to invest in different aspects of their businesses to help them grow. The business ventures they are pursuing are important to me because they help people in areas that are meaningful to me (motherhood, cancer, food, etc.).
4. We love to travel and want my kids to see the world with us to learn about different cultures and countries. This takes money. We have a dream of being able to homeschool our kids for a year and travel the world.
Now it is your turn! What motivates you and inspires you outside of home and family? What are your interests and hobbies?
