How to Eat Right When You Have Food Allergies

How to eat right when you have food allergies is a hot topic. Having been surrounded by friends and kids with food allergies for the past few years, I have made an effort to study food allergies and how to work around them and still focus on healthy eating.  When you are learning how to eat right, I would recommend this as well, as it is frustrating for people with food allergies to go to a friend or family dinner and not have food to eat.  Just common courtesy!

What is a food allergy?

Common food allergies include the following, which account for 90 percent of allergic reactions:

Milk and Milk Products (such as whey protein)
Eggs (especially egg whites)
Soy and Soy products (most soy is genetically modified food)
Wheat and wheat products (Some people are wheat intolerant or gluten intolerant, but don't have celiac disease)
Peanuts
Tree nuts
Fish
Shellfish
